When to Begin
We can begin our work together at various times.
For many families, a good time to begin is toward the end of the student's sophomore year, the following summer or early in the student's junior year. Ideally, college visits should begin by winter of junior year. Working with me beforehand ensures that the student will have a targeted preliminary list of colleges to consider for those winter visits. It also provides time to implement the personalized plan that I will have developed for tutoring and taking standardized tests.
Earlier consultations enable me to guide the student with course selection for his or her freshman and sophomore years and in anticipation of the important junior and senior years to follow. In addition, students who are anticipating applying to highly selective schools may want to begin early.
Some families are ready to seek my guidance in the middle or end of the student's junior year. For those families, starting then works very well.
Other times to initiate a first contact with me are any time that the student or parents feel the need for professional input and review. At that time, we can together determine whether the Full Counseling Services or Services on an Hourly Basis is most suitable.
